Wine Collective & Press Coffee Lounge was born from two passions coming together.
Sean built Three Oaks Roasting Co. around a commitment to sourcing and roasting exceptional coffee. Janae's passion for hospitality and lifelong love of learning inspired a vision for a place where people could gather, discover, and connect over thoughtfully curated beverages.
Together, with their family, they created a welcoming destination where specialty coffee, exceptional wines, and meaningful experiences come together. Whether you're exploring a new varietal, enjoying a handcrafted pour-over, or attending one of our educational events, you'll find a community built around curiosity, craftsmanship, and connection.

At Wine Collective & Press Coffee Lounge, every experience is shaped by a team of passionate coffee and wine professionals who love sharing what they've learned.
Our team includes Ian, Barista & Wine Guide; Carole, WSET Level 2 Wine Guide; Sharon, WSET Level 2 Wine Educator & Wine Guide; Cheyenne, Barista & Coffee Expert; Sean, Owner, Roaster & Coffee Expert; Presley, Barista & Wine Guide; and Janae, Owner, Wine Guide & Coffee Expert.
Together, we bring expertise in specialty coffee, wine education, hospitality, and beverage craftsmanship to every recommendation, tasting, class, and conversation.
Our wine program is further supported by Mary Montalvo, our Consulting Sommelier and Wine Club Curator. Mary is a WSET Certified Educator, WSET Diploma Candidate, WSET Level 2 Spirits certified, Spanish Wine Scholar, Certified Rioja Wine Educator, and holds additional certifications in wine, beer, and spirits education. Her guidance helps shape our Wine Club selections and educational programming, bringing a global perspective to our curated offerings.
Beyond our in-house team, we partner with respected winemakers, importers, distributors, coffee producers, roasters, educators, and beverage professionals from our community and around the world. These partnerships allow us to offer unique tastings, guest-led classes, educational experiences, and opportunities to continually discover new wines, coffees, and beverages.
Whether you're new to coffee and wine or have years of experience, our goal is simple: to create a welcoming place where curiosity is encouraged, questions are celebrated, and every visit offers something new to discover.

ABOUT PRESS COFFEE LOUNGE
Janae & Sean Johnson
PRESS is more than just coffee. PRESS is a fully immersive experience with a centric value in locally roasted beans roasted by Three Oaks Farm. We source our beans from small coffee growers from all over the world and want to make sure you enjoy the best coffee experience you can have.
PRESS offers an elevated and educated coffee shop experience. Not just a latte!
A favorite childhood saying is now the best slogan ever for our roastery. After a trip to explore a coffee bean farm in Chiapas, Mexico with our friends from Broken Rib Coffee, the java juices started flowing…We’re in!
We spent the whole flight home dreaming up how we can best support the farmers we met and build a partnership with BRC. A palette of green beans later, Midwood Coffee Roasters was born.
Sean started home roasting in 2014 using an air popper for popcorn. In 2017 we moved to Plaza Midwood (hence the name) in Charlotte, NC, where he got a gig with a local coffee house to roast on a Probat L12 roaster and hone in his skills as a sensory roaster. Let’s just say our house had the best coffee in the neighborhood!
Now it’s time for all of you to experience Sean’s rad roasting skills.
Janae joined the team after retiring from her corporate job and wanting to build a family business along her husband and children. Her vision has landed an upcoming rebranding just to align better with all the current offerings including wholesale and the Coffee Lab Experience located inside Wine Collective at Uptown Shelby. You can find our products for sale at the spot or simply enjoy a brewing experience.
